The harp, with its soothing tone and spiritual associations, has been revered as a healing instrument by many cultures for thousands of years. Ancient Celtic harp music had different properties or “strains” which caused sleep, tears, or joy. These strains are qualities still found in harp music today.  When thoughtfully played, harp music continues to contribute to wellness and wholeness.

What is Harp-Prayer?
Harp-Prayer is meditative music played on the harp for the well-being and wholeness of the listener.

What makes the music “prayer”?
What makes it prayer is the preparation and intention.  The preparation includes praying and meditating for the person who will receive the music.  The music is not intended for entertainment.  The intention is for healing, well-being, support, compassion, peace, strength and wholeness.

What makes music healing?
Music can contribute to wholeness by touching on emotional, physical or spiritual well-being.  The healing power of music is in the way it is expressed and the way it is received.  Music unites and “holds” both the giver and receiver or the musician and listener, in a unique way.

What to expect during Harp-Prayer
In a relaxed position you may sit or recline in a comfortable chair. You may close your eyes, look through a window, gaze at a candle, or read/meditate on an inspirational writing. Harp music is played as you relax and receive the music that was chosen especially for you. The vibrations and tones of the harp often create a physical relaxation response that may bring calmness, memories or images, or emotional release.
